Judges List and Criteria 2010

Judging Criteria

The minimum requirements for each list are as follows:
A1 List
Persons who have previously been approved by The Kennel Club to award CCs in the breed and have already satisfactorily completed their first appointment and who have the support of this Club.

A2 List
Persons who fulfil all the requirements for the A3 list and who have been assessed in accordance with Kennel Club requirements and accepted by The Kennel Club for inclusion on an A2 list and who have the support of this Club.

A3 List (Breed Specialist)
1. Persons who have a minimum of seven years judging experience in this breed and who have the support of this Club.
2. To have judged at one Golden Retriever Breed Club Show or at two Golden Retriever Supported Entry Shows.
3. To have judged the breed at Open Shows or Championship Shows without CCs with a minimum of 100 classes and 500 dogs in a wide geographical area.
4. To have stewarded at a minimum of 12 Shows.
5. To have attended a seminar given by a Kennel Club Accredited Trainer, and passed the relevant examination on Kennel Club Requirements of a Dog Show Judge.
6. To have attended a seminar given by a Kennel Club Accredited Trainer on conformation and movement.
7. To have attended and passed a Kennel Club hands-on assessment delivered by a Kennel Club Accredited Trainer (C&M). (K.C. policy from 1st July 2005).
8. To have attended and passed a Breed Specific Seminar.
9. To have bred and/or owned a minimum of three dogs when they obtained their first entry in the Kennel Club Stud Book. (Save in exceptional circumstances).

A3 List (Non-specialist)
1. Persons who have a minimum of seven years judging experience in any one breed (to include five years in this breed) and who have the support of this Club.
2. To have judged at one Golden Retriever Breed Club Show or at two Golden Retriever Supported Entry Shows.
3. To have judged the breed at Open Shows or Championship Shows without CCs with a minimum of 100 classes and 500 dogs in a wide geographical area.
4. To have awarded CCs in at least one other breed.
5. To have attended at least one breed specific seminar run in accordance with the relevant Kennel Club Code of Best Practice and passed an examination and/or assessment where applicable.
6. To have bred and/or owned a minimum of three dogs when they obtained their first entry in the Kennel Club Stud Book.

B List (Breed Specialist)
1. Persons who have at least seven years experience owning and actively exhibiting in this breed and who have judged for at least five years and who have the support of this Club.
2. To have judged a minimum of 30 classes and 130 dogs at Open Shows or Championship Shows without CCs.
3. To have attended at least one breed specific seminar run in accordance with the relevant Kennel Club Code of Best Practice and passed an examination and/or assessment where applicable
4. To have stewarded at least six shows.
5. To have attended a seminar given by a Kennel Club Accredited Trainer, and passed the relevant examination on Kennel Club Requirements of a Dog Show Judge
6. To have attended a seminar given by a Kennel Club Accredited Trainer on conformation and movement.
7. To have attended and passed a Kennel Club hands-on assessment delivered by a Kennel Club Accredited Trainer .

B List (Non-specialist)
1. Persons who have at least seven years experience judging any breed(s) and judged this breed for at least five years and who have the support of this Club.
2. To have judged a minimum of 30 classes and 130 dogs of this breed at Open Shows or Championship without CCs.
3. To have attended at least one breed specific seminar run in accordance with the relevant Kennel Club Code of Best Practice and passed an examination.
4. To have stewarded at a minimum of six shows.
5. To have attended a seminar given by a Kennel Club Accredited Trainer, and passed the relevant examination on Kennel Club Requirements of a Dog Show Judge
6. To have attended a seminar given by a Kennel Club Accredited Trainer on conformation and movement.
7. To have attended and passed a Kennel Club hands-on assessment delivered by a Kennel Club Accredited Trainer.

C List
1.Persons who have been active in this breed for at least four years, who have the support of this Club and are considered competent to judge.
2.To have already completed or will attend within the next 12 months a Beginner/Novice Judging training seminar.

In addition to the above, selection will be made by the Judges’ Sub-committee by secret ballot, and the candidate must secure at least 60% of the attending Sub-committee members’ votes.

These lists will expire on the 31st December each year and new lists will be compiled on 1st January each year.
